The first “social” motorbike adventure.
The protagonists are Motociclismo magazine readers and users, as follows:
Suggesting the daily route
Offering hospitality along the way
Taking part of the some of the trip with their own bikes
There is an old way of saying “there is a time for anything”. Well, I have never followed it! Chaotic and impatient, I have always been rushing into things. When I was 20 years old I already had my first bike in my garage. A beautiful Suzuki Gsxr600 which I had bought with many years of summer casual works. Truly exhausting it was, waiting for my 21 bday to be finally ready for riding it. But, after few months, just a little time to get used to it, a 600 engine it wasn’t enough anymore. Such an extraordinary work effort I needed allowing me to change it with more powerful and attractive Yamaha R1, which soon became modified. As much as three years I spent together with it having joyrides with my friends every sunday. Experienced friends (some of them are former professional riders) who have taught me how to ride fast and safe on the road. Looking up to them, that was the future in which I was imagining me. Instead, once again, I have rushed into things changing my mind! Came back from my first motorbike travel experience, I was completely drawn by it. So, as you easily guess, I changed my bike for a comfortable one, more appropriate for my next adventures I was already thinking about. “Lazy biker” I have been called since then by my joyride friends. However they couldn’t make me turning back from what seemed to be a changing lifestyle decision. Year after year my curiosity and my willing to discover new places has brought me from the Atlantic sea to the Iran borders. Along the roads I have known many adventure bikers, Italians and strangers, and one day talking with an Austrian rider asking me suggestions about what roads to ride on in Sicily I realized: I was so far from home but I couldn’t talk about my country because I had never been to Sicily as well as other regions. To me it didn’t make sense. So before continuing to discover the world I thought I should do something better. I came up with the idea of discovering my home country, entirely! Thanks to the collaboration of the biggest Italian motorcycling magazine and its own community of experienced adventurers I will completely be ridden and hosted throughout the Italian soul by testing their experiences. What it could be better solution?
So, I will start my trip the 1st of June from the headquarter of Motociclismo without an established itinerary, ending to Capo Passero (Sicily) not knowing the trip ending date. I will be alone along the road but those willing to help me will be welcome, in terms of riding some miles together or hosting me in their home with a shower, a soup and a place where to sleep. I think that’s a great way to know others bikers sharing an experience proving the “bikers friendship” to be still true and well alive!
