Complete Alps Tour

Description

During my last 6 month trip all over Italy for Motociclismo magazine, I have discovered magical and unknown places and entertaining roads. Something you mustn’t miss out on your Italian motorcycle holiday. This tour leads us over the Alps, one of the most beautiful mountain chain in Europe. We spends 2 weeks between bends and uncountable mountain passes from where we can enjoy the Alps in all their beauty. Starting from the city of Milan, the first part of this tour sees us riding towards the Dolomites, a unique sight in the world in the Italian Alps heart. Every day we will get our daily dose of passes and we won’t miss Stelvio Pass. The second part of this tour sees us riding our bikes over the enjoyable roads on the French\Italian Alps like the most famous Col de la Bonette. Much to be seen, from the tiny and typical mountain towns like Canazei,Cortina d’Ampezzo and Saint Moritz to city of historical and cultural interest like Trento and Verona. Furthermore, to complete our holiday we taste the surroundings of the Lake of Como and Maggiore to end by the sea to Nice.

  • Day 0
It’s the day of your arrival in Milan, our tour start and finish point. We meet at the hotel where we will get to know each other and from where we will go and pick up our bikes. Late evening we have our briefing dinner talking about our forthcoming adventure.

*If requested, the trasfert service from\to the airport can be scheduled.

  • Day 1
Time to go! From Milan we head to the Lake of Garda enjoying its bends between the lakes of Valvestino and Iseo. Late afternoon we arrive to the unmissable Sirmione which we visit and then we finish our day to Desenzano del Garda where we spend our first night.
  • Day 2

After a breakfast spiced up with the sight of the Lake of Garda, the biggest in Italy, we spend our day riding towards Trento. We will have a nice ride along the Garda shore through a succession of natural galleries and beautiful glimpses to be taken a pictures.

  • Day 3

In the morning, after another quick walk into the city of Trento we leave to the Dolomities. We ride through the green Val di Cembra and Fiemme arriving to the  picturesque village of San Martino di Castrozza, at the feet of Brenta Dolomities group.

  • Day 4

A wonderful day to be spent between Dolomitic passes and fashion locations. From San Martino di Castrozza we move to the east side of the Dolomities climbing the passes of Fedaia, having the opportunity for a close sight of the Marmolada (the queen of the Dolomities),  Giau and Falzarego to reach the prettiest town in the Alps: Cortina d’Ampezzo. We end our ride stopping over to Canazei, another typical dolomitic village.

  • Day 5

If you want to feel like a real biker, this is the day you shouldn’t miss! The day will be dedicated to hairpins and famous mountain passes of the Sella Group. A really tough day which sees us as protagonists on roads like the Pordoi Pass. An opportunity to discuss and improve our riding skills. After all, we are in the Dolomities area, a paradise for bikers.

  • Day 6

A beautiful day between the fresh air of the passes and the warm temperature of valleys stopping our ride just to visit little jewel towns along the road. We head off from Canazei climbing over the Costalunga Pass and then downwards into the Sarentino valley. We finish our ride in the beautiful frame of Merano city.

  • Day 7

Today we leave Merano to get to the magnificent Stelvio Pass, the highest pass in Italy (2758 mt). As you can easily guess, it’s a delightful ride. A milestone to be shown on your biker Cv. After the unmissable pictures we put the Stelvio Pass behind us to enter Switzerland to arrive and spend the night in the elegant Saint Moritz.

  • Day 8

A free day to spend in Saint Moritz!

  • Day 9

Our daily route sees us leaving Saint Moritz to go back to Italy through the San Bernardino Pass heading to the town of  Verbania riding past the beautiful Lake Maggiore.

  • Day 10

By the end of the day we arrive in France, at the feet of the Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe (4810 meters). From Verbania we ride over the Sempione Pass of Napoleon origins getting to Martigny where we stop for the night.

  • Day 11

Today we ride around the Mont Blanc. From Martigny we go over the Gran San Bernardo Pass to get to the city of Aosta from where we ride the Piccolo San Bernardo Pass arriving at the city of Bourg Saint Maurice in the Savoy territory. A strategic position for the forthcoming routes dedicated to the main beautiful passes of the French Alps.

  • Day 12

We soon face the day riding on one of the highest pass in Europe: Col de Iseran (2770 meters). The beginning of a twisting ride which carries on the Col du Galibier ending our ride at the town of Briancon.

  • Day 13

We start the day from Briancon ending by the sea to Nice. Another passes day which sees us riding over Col d’Izoard, Col de Varse and the tremendously beautiful Col de la Bonette (2802 meters, the number one in Europe), all in row.

  • Day 14

Sadly, our last day together! We need to get to our Hotel in Milan by the afternoon. So, we leave Nice taking the highway. It won’t a boring ride though! The highway goes through the beautiful Cote d’Azur and 5 Terre.
